Ingredients

Makes 6 pommes d’amour

• 6 golden apples
• 3 ½ fl oz (10 cl) water
• 3 ½ oz (100 g) butter
• 14 oz (400 g) powdered sugar
• 2 cloves
• ½ stick cinnamon
• 1 tsp red food coloring
• 1 tbsp lemon juice

Preparation

• Wash the apples and remove the stems
• Push a small wooden stick into each apple
• Melt the butter in a casserole on low heat
• Add the sugar, lemon juice, water, cinnamon, and cloves Be careful not to
• break the cinnamon stick
• Mix well in order to dissolve the sugar into the liquid
• Reduce the mixture to a lightly caramelized consistency. The consistency should be between a syrup and caramel
• Remove from heat
• Remove the cinnamon and the cloves
• Dip each apple into the syrup
• Let the syrup cool and harden on each apple with the stick pointing upwards to grab easily
